How You Connect

Over the next few years, the City of Campbell River municipal broadband network will expand throughout the downtown core. The existing and planned network extension is displayed below in the network diagram "CR Advantage Fibre Optic Network".

Owners of buildings that exist along the perimeter of the current or planned fibre optic network can apply for connection through the City of Campbell River Economic Development Office, 250-286-5738 or email cradvantage@campbellriver.ca.

Owners, whose buildings exist outside of the network’s current perimeter boundary, are encouraged to apply for access. Their application will support the framework for future strategic extensions.

At this time, there is no cost to the building owners for building integration to the CRadvantage network.

Next steps:

  1. All applications for integration are reviewed for feasibility based on planned network growth and strategic investment. The applicant will be contacted to discuss the results of this review. All requests are submitted to a priority queue for annual future integration review.
  2. Once approved:
    • The city’s network support team will schedule a connection time with the building owner.
    • Prior to the scheduled installation, the network support team will meet with the building owner, or representative, to discuss the integration plan and building requirements.
    • The building owner will be provided with a contact list of participating service providers to determine competitive monthly access costs. A list of participating service providers can be viewed here: service providers.
